ScribePost: March 4

Alrightyyy so nervous tissue is hard to understand, i found this animation

http://highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0072495855/student_view0/chapter14/animation__transmission_across_a_synapse.html

so theres two parts of the nervous system brain ad spinal cord. figure 17.7 is really helpful.
spinal cord: extends from base of rain to verteral canal. vertabraes act as cushions and protect it. gray matter= inside white matter= outside
KNOWWW THE FUNCTIONSSS OF THE SPINAL CORD
communication b/w brain and body, center for many reflex arcs
brain: cerebrum, the two hemispheres. divided by longitudial fissue( like on a map)
sulci= the grooves
4 LOBES: frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, temporal lobe
KNOW THEM WELL

this might help

I found that both animations/videos really helped me to better my understanding on the lesson. Especially the first video; it cleared up and questions I had.

Really great start to the scribeposts! I think that the McGraw Hill animation was a perfect follow-up to today's class.

Is there anything else that anyone thinks they need clarification on?

I also found this YouTube video:

Again, great job!

I found this on youtube, its videos from Berkley university. The teacher lady is sort of boring at first, but she knows a lot, and for any slackers who don't pay attention in class.. this could be helpful! She covers all our topics, for each system this year, so might be good for the exam too!

I like how everything lights up on http://www.bayareapainmedical.com/spinecrd.html ! And it makes everything look a lot simpler by outlining what each part does.

Good website Sofia!

i thought that sofias video animation thing did a good job at explaining the nervous tissue and the picture part of it was simple to understand. the other diagram was also helpful to understand the brain

Hey Maria,

I just took a look at the link you included... Looks very informative, although it seems a little too advanced for our class. Save the link, though! It might help you out for when you're in university!
